License123 is a unique research service that helps new and existing businesses discover which permits and licenses they need in order to be compliant with their local, state and federal governments. We help you identify your required (and optional) licenses and the estimated fees associated with them. Additionally, License123 provides business owners with a nationwide fictitious business name service, furnishing all the necessary documents and outlining the required steps that must be taken in order to obtain a “doing business as” name. We provide you with a report that includes all the information you need to complete and file these applications and be fully compliant.
If you own a business or are thinking about starting a business – License123 is for you and can save you time and money. Instead of contacting each of the local, state and federal government offices and spending hours online and on the phone, we will immediately tell you what licenses you must have to be compliant and how much it is going to cost you.
License123 is also useful for business owners who have not registered their “doing-business-as,” name – aka DBA -- which is often a requirement for a business that is operating under a name that is different from its legal name. The filing process differs in every jurisdiction, but License123 makes this process simple by providing you with all the relevant information unique to your specific location.
There are multiple plans available on License123 depending on your needs. If you want unlimited access to licenses and permits, including our nationwide DBA database, the monthly cost is $19.95. We also offer two filing service options: $295 for full service license and permit filing, or $99 for full service DBA filing. Both of these plans include full access to our license, permits and DBA databases.
All License123 reports are customized for you and include a comprehensive list of all mandatory and optional licenses and permits from the federal, state, county, and city governments. If you have requested that DBA information be included in your report, it will also include all of the relevant filing information, including the application materials and process requirements from your local government. For every permit, license, or DBA, we include deadline and renewal information, application instructions, the estimated cost and fee schedule, and the licensing authority’s contact information. If the license, permit, or DBA can be filed electronically, we will provide you with direct links to the online forms and applications. All that information will be customized and packaged based on your own business and location requirements.
A “doing business as” or DBA name is the fictitious business name under which a business operates. Generally, a business must be named after the person or entity that owns the business- this is the business’ legal name. However, oftentimes a business will elect to be known to the public under a different name, and uses this name for advertising, sales, and other operational purposes. This is what is known as the “doing business as” name of the company.
Many U.S. jurisdictions require that all businesses operating under a DBA name file a DBA statement. Some locations also require some sort of public declaration of the name in order for the statement to be valid- for example, filing a name notice in the local newspaper. License123 provides a nationwide DBA database that furnishes all the required documents and outlines any additional notice requirements – and we’ll even file for your DBA on your behalf!
