Not surprising for a very green city in the Evergreen State, Seattle has a lot of licenses and regulations aimed at environmental protection. In fact, Seattle, King County and Washington State strive to protect both the environment and consumers. In many cases, licensing can be complex and detailed – however, at least on a state level, Washington has consolidated much of the application process under its Department of Licensing. Seattle has long been the home of Boeing, which continues to manufacture uni-body jets in South Seattle. The city also has financial, high tech, e-commerce, biotech, medical and commercial food sectors. The city's busy port is not only a major part of trans-Pacific trade, but a center of the fishing industry.
