When looking for a good, business-friendly city, don’t pass-over El Paso. This historical town has been a center of commerce for more than 200 years. Not surprisingly, El Paso has developed some sophistication and a number of licenses and permits aimed at protecting local residents from vice crimes and negative externalities. Business owners may need licenses from the city’s tax office, police department and environmental health department. El Paso is home to several large appliance and industrial manufacturers that make up much of its employment. It has a few major clothing makers. The city strongly encourages entrepreneurial growth and keeps taxes and permits to a minimum.
