The only state in the Union with Napoleonic Code and parishes instead of counties has always been a little different thanks to its French roots. However, today's Louisiana has similar business licenses and permits to other states. In fact, it regulates significantly at the state level while even New Orleans, its largest city, remains light on licenses and permits.
In Louisiana, a solar contractor installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs thermal and photovoltaic solar energy systems. A licensee classified in this section shall not undertake or perform building or construction trades, crafts, or skills, except when required to install a thermal or photovoltaic solar energy system.
