  • Hawaii Low Voltage Systems Contractor Licenses and Permits

Selling a cheeseburger in paradise can easily take up to eight licenses and permits. Although ever-relaxed Hawaii is less regulated than many other western states, it has a number of its own island-state-specific ways. Foreigners looking to set-up shop should take special care thoroughly research their operational licenses.

In Hawaii, a communication and low voltage systems contractor installs, services and maintains all types of communication and low voltage systems which are energy limited and do not exceed 91 volts. These systems include, but are not limited to telephone systems, sound systems, cable television systems, closed-circuit video systems, satellite dish antennas, instrumentation and temperature controls, and low voltage landscape lighting. Low voltage fire alarm systems are specifically not included in this section.
